Water damage from flooding at a Patchogue commercial property is unfortunate, but these are not uncommon. It can halt business operations and pose several risks to your property, depending on the situation. The water emergencies in a commercial building are often more extensive than in residential projects due to mechanical systems and complexities. Therefore, calling in skilled technicians to handle emergency water removal services and cleanup is best. SERVPRO is here, and We’re Faster To Any Size Disaster, getting you the results you need to limit downtime and costs.

What causes commercial flood damage in Patchogue? There can be several reasons, including internal flooding, when an appliance or pipe malfunctions. Any time water collects, it can cause harm to your building structures, inventory, and more. It is crucial you know some of the risks involved in commercial flooding and why it is best to call in trained water restoration technicians (WRT).

  • Equipment and property loss – can become costly if any valuable equipment or inventory gets impacted. Custom workstations, specialized manufacturing equipment, and other contents might be challenging to replace. Additionally, there is the potential loss of essential building elements like flooring, drywall, fixtures, etc.
  • Black mold development – Addressing any mold and mildew development after a commercial water emergency is not recommended as a DIY. SERVPRO’s skilled technicians know how to safely and effectively navigate your commercial property in conjunction with water extraction and drying to address mold colonization. All surfaces get thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sanitized, followed by special attention by our Odor Control Technician (OCT) to eliminate foul, musty odors.

Fire and Smoke Remediation Is Necessary for Patchogue Commercial Structures

6/12/2022 (Permalink)

Proprietors in Patchogue deal with fire damage by calling SERVPRO.

Inspection and Fire Damage Restoration by SERVPRO

Testing, or scoping, a commercial business in Patchogue, is an essential part of restoring the structure and contents. Companies open to customers may continue to have burnt odors or indoor air quality issues after a fire. These issues occur by failing to recognize all the areas of harm on the premises. SERVPRO IICRC certified technicians take time to locate soot and smoke residues to ensure that they are removed before completing the commercial restoration. Our crew chiefs combine practical testing with their training on smoke behavior during the fire to ensure that we return your business to its preloss condition as quickly as possible. We aim to keep your business in business.

 Are some smoke residues invisible?

When observing a structure that requires commercial fire and smoke restoration in Patchogue, there are likely apparent smoke residues and some less obvious. Smoke billows out from a fire source leading to extensive soiling on the surfaces closest and lighter soils on surfaces further away. Our technicians observe these more light residues by using white paper to compare and contrast areas of damage and a dry cleaning sponge, which can often make lighter smoke residues visible. These tests are an essential form of odor control for your business, ensuring that it returns to its preloss condition after the fire.

Many retail shops and offices must maintain a safe and healthy indoor air quality IAQ. This quality can be severely compromised by fire. The HVAC system must be inspected and cleaned if evidence of soot or odors is discovered within the ductwork. Our SERVPRO team has advanced equipment like whisks, negative air pressure machines, and fogging devices to eliminate pungent odors and residues from these ducts.

A business needs thorough inspection and protocols following the best practices of the IICRC to ensure that any residual stains, and odor, are brought under control before re-opening. Contact SERVPRO of Patchogue at (631) 924-1801.

We Respond Immediately To Your Coram Water Damage Restoration Services

If you or anyone you know is experiencing a water damage emergency we are available 24/7 to help you.

Commercial Water Removal Coram – Employee Lounge Water Overflow

Many small commercial offices have an employee lounge with a fridge, perhaps a tiny stove, and a kitchen-style sink to wash and rinse dishes. When the water was left running by an employee, the sink overflowed, and water ran most of the night, covering the floor in the lounge area and nearby offices. An employee was distracted by an emergency phone call and forgot about turning the tap off.

The office manager called our SERVPRO office in Coram the next morning to help with commercial water removal. We responded immediately to help this customer. We know how important it is to keep an office open and able to respond to its customers. Any downtime can mean lost customers and lost revenue for the business.

One of the employees had shut the water off when she arrived at the office in the morning. Our team arrived to find water soaking the carpets in the lounge area, three nearby offices, and a conference room used to greet customers and hold meetings with clients. Our technicians quickly got to work using water removal equipment to remove excess water from the carpeting.

We removed all of the chairs and tables from the offices, conference room, and lounge areas. Tables and desks, along with computer systems, were removed, leaving a clear area for our team to work. After extracting water from the carpeting, large air movers were brought in to further dry the carpets and linoleum flooring in the lounge area. Warm, dry air from other office areas was blown into the affected area and exhausted out the emergency exit door at the rear of the building.

The employees were able to use the lounge area later that day. We checked all areas with moisture meters to confirm the area was completely dry. The offices and conference room were available for occupancy several days later after the carpets had dried entirely. Carpets are prone to ripple and separate from the backing when it becomes wet. The carpeting was relatively new, and the quick action by our SERVPRO team mitigated the damage to the flooring.

Quick action is required when your warehouse is facing water damage. Team SERVPRO offers effective water removal and remediation services. Call today.

Patchogue Manufacturing Facilities Require Special Water Restoration Equipment

Warehouses and factories are large, sprawling properties that can be found throughout Patchogue and the surrounding areas. When water damages impact these larger commercial structures, our SERVPRO team has suitable restoration and recovery solutions that can help. Our Green Fleet can mobilize fast to get your doors back open again following a disaster.

Clearing Standing Water

Water damage restoration for Patchogue factories and manufacturing facilities protects the equipment and any stored wares within the structure. Depending on the standing water depth and how considerable the square footage involved, several extractors can be called upon to help. Often for large water damage recovery situations, the truck-mount extractor from our Green Fleet is a preferred, powerful option.

Multitudes of Drying Tools

With larger facilities like warehouses and factories, multiple drying tools are needed simultaneously to achieve comprehensive results. Because we have hundreds of air movers and drying tools in our inventory, we can manage even substantial loss situations through efforts like daisy-chaining air movers and calculating the efficiencies of evaporation tools like:

Trailered Equipment for Complete Moisture Management

One of the more powerful pieces of large loss restoration equipment from our Green Fleet is the trailered desiccant dehumidifier. This has multiple inlets and outlets that can span several rooms of a facility simultaneously. The benefit of desiccants is while moisture is pulled from the environment, the discharge line out from the main outside unit infuses warm, dry air into the structure for faster drying production.

From an unexpected flood to the bursting of a water service line in the building, events can leave manufacturing and production facilities in the area needing fast mitigation and restoration solutions. Our SERVPRO of Patchogue team is ready 24/7 to help when property management calls (631) 924-1801.

Skip DIY and Go with Proven Methods

DIY may sound like a good idea for a small water damage project. However, when you call SERVPRO to address your commercial water damage in Patchogue, we understand all of the following:

  • The ways that water and moisture impact various materials throughout your building
  • The best equipment to use to pull up standing water, regardless of the space or water level

SERVPRO Offers a Fast Fire Damage Restoration Service that Patchogue Businesses can Trust

A fire breaking out at your place of business can leave the property heavily damaged and covered with soot and debris. Hiring professional restorers from SERVPRO can prevent the fire damage to your Patchogue property from becoming a total disaster.

SERVPRO's highly trained and IICRC certified experts have experience handling various aspects of fire damage at your Patchogue commercial space, including odor, and combating the odor after fire damage is a significant part of the restoration process. SERVPRO technicians use several equipment and techniques to deal with both real and imaginary odors in your fire-damaged property.

Odor Fighting Strategies that SERVPRO Techs Use During Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration and Cleanup in Patchogue

Every fire incidence is unique, and no one solution magically works in all situations to combat odors in your fire-damaged Patchogue property. SERVPRO technicians employ different strategies to combat odor depending on whether the smoke damage is light, moderate, or heavy.

If the smoke damage is light, cleaning the residue and ventilating the area can eliminate most odors. SERVPRO techs use wet fogging to combat any remaining odors in such situations. In case of moderate damage, the smoke residues can be present on both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Odor problems are greater when a fire burns for a longer time or when an increased number of materials burn. SERVPRO restorers use Ultra Low Volume (ULV) foggers to combat such odors. In case of heavy damage, equipment such as thermal foggers, air scrubbers, and ozone generators can get the job done.

8/11/2021 (Permalink)

Mold growth is off-putting for customers and employees alike. SERVPRO's trained techs are just a call away to safely remove mold from your business.

SERVPRO is One of the Most Trusted Mold Removal Companies Helping Patchogue Businesses

Mold growth at your place of business can not only drive potential customers away, but mold can also cause health effects to your staff. Hiring one of the reputed mold removal companies like SERVPRO of Patchogue can help you get this problem under control in no time.

What makes SERVPRO stand out among other mold removal companies in Patchogue is our commitment to quality service and attention to detail. Our IICRC certified mold specialists have years of experience in mold inspections, remediations, and removal from commercial properties in Patchogue. The first and possibly most important thing that professionals do once they identify a mold problem on your property is establishing a containment zone.

How SERVPRO Techs Establish Containment Zones During Mold Remediation in Patchogue Properties

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) describes two types of containment in its mold remediation guidelines:

  • Limited – used for areas between 10 and 100 square feet
  • Full- used for rooms over 100 square feet

SERVPRO techs establish limited containment consisting of a single layer of 6-mil fire-retardant polyethylene sheeting, enclosing the mold-contaminated area. All the air supply vents, pipes, and doors are closed by the plastic sheeting as well.

A full containment requires two layers of 6-mil polyethylene sheeting. SERVPRO techs might also establish a decontamination chamber, called an air-lock, to regulate the entry and exit of personnel and equipment from the contaminated area.

SERVPRO techs always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) kits fitted with respirators approved by National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Why Is Odor Control Crucial During Fire Damage Restoration at Patchogue Business Premises?

7/23/2021 (Permalink)

Fire damage can be overwhelming for any property owner. SERVPRO is here to help. Just call (631) 924-1801.

SERVPRO Takes Care of All Issues Related To Fire and Smoke Damage Restoring Pre-loss Conditions

Whenever there is a fire within your Patchogue business premises, the resulting damages extend beyond the visible issues such as charred materials or sooty surfaces. For instance, smoke movements deposit residues all over the property, including in hidden areas such as air ducts.

While you may anticipate most of the processes fire damage restoration in your Patchogue property requires, including cleaning, teardown, and rebuilding of affected areas, you may overlook some finishing processes, yet they are crucial. For instance, failure to inspect and clean air ducts may leave a stubborn musky smell. SERVPRO helps clean ducts as part of a comprehensive deodorization process that eliminates all smells and restores the air quality.

Deodorization is Necessary During:

  • Smoke remediation
  • Water & fire damage restorations
  • Fire restoration

The inner surfaces of air ducts collect various residues and debris like dust and pollen over time. The addition of smoke residues to the mix only worsens the situation and can result in long-term air quality issues as air passing through the ducts redistributes the residues all over the property.

Various Evaluations Are Necessary Before Starting Duct Cleaning, Including:

  • Estimating the duration of the fire
  • Identifying the type and concentration of residues in the system
  • Checking for damaged components such as dampers and turning vanes

After evaluation, our SERVPRO technicians proceed with the cleaning using vacuum systems. In case odors persist after cleaning, we can seal them using an appropriate sealing agent.

SERVPRO of Patchogue takes care of any challenging task during fire damage restoration, “Like it never even happened.” Call us at (631) 924-1801 for immediate assistance.

How Do Professional Mold Removal Companies Help Patchogue Offices?

6/10/2021 (Permalink)

It doesn't take long for mold to grow and overtake your business. Call SERVPRO for swift remediation.

With How Quickly Mold Organisms Spread, SERVPRO Reaches Patchogue Businesses Fast

Your office space can be heavily damaged by the presence of mold and microbial colonies. Elements like the furniture or drywall are easy targets for aggressive mold organisms finding organic matter as a host for colonies. Our SERVPRO team can help with fast action in these situations.

Containment Strategies that Keep You Going

When your business is compromised by microbial growth, mold removal companies in Patchogue focus on preventing the further spread and severity of these conditions. The most efficient strategy for this process is to install thick poly-sheeting to control the movement of spores beyond the damage zone. Secondary measures, such as air scrubbers and negative pressure machines, can also help in this effort.

Non-Offensive and Invasive Mold Removal Tactics

With office space being shared by so many employees simultaneously, aggressive cleaning and removal methods are not always the most ideal for mold remediation. When possible, our remediation professionals must choose surface treatment solutions that keep the business going while mold removal efforts continue. Antimicrobial cleaning products and surface sanding can help in this regard, and when these measures are ineffective, we can lean on more aggressive strategies such as:

  • Controlled demolition
  • Media blasting
  • Sponge pressure cleaning

With how rapidly mold damage incidents can get out of control, you need mold removal companies to arrive quickly to help. Our SERVPRO of Patchogue team is available 24/7 and ready to implement our proven remediation strategies. Call us today at (631) 924-1801.

Companies that deal with chemicals have to be careful. SERVPRO has IICRC certified techs for all the water restoration services needed for you.

Do water leaks at industrial companies pose safety risks during water mitigation in Patchogue?

The potential for chemicals mixing with water from a leak in Patchogue companies with warehouses, manufacturing, or processing plants is high. Leaking water can dissolve various chemical substances, which can irritate the skin and harm respiratory systems.

SERVPRO technicians have encountered many situations while providing water mitigation services to companies in Patchogue. We advise our employees and our customers that they should follow one rule of thumb. After a water leak, if the work environment is unpleasant or causes dizziness, wear a respirator, and protect all skin surfaces.

The following safety gear may be necessary for these situations:

  • Splash goggles
  • Chemical resistant gloves
  • Respirators if vapors from organic materials, solvents, or hydrocarbons are encountered

What are the Tell-tale Signs of Mold in a Coram Business Premises?

10/31/2020 (Permalink)

If mold damage strikes your business, you’ll need a team to help you. Contact SERVPRO 24/7 for professional remediation and mitigation services.

SERVPRO Offers Commercial Mold Inspection Services to Coram Property Managers Who Suspect a Microbial Growth Issue.

Is Mold Remediation a Professional Job?

The common signs of microbial growth issues in your Coram business may be musty odors or visible signs of growth. Moisture problems are commonplace in older buildings or those with heavy usages, such as a business. Specific mold can have health effects, so it is vital to seek expert advice to protect yourself, your customers, and your staff. The methodology of removing microbes from an indoor environment focuses on correcting the moisture problem that causes growth in the first place. However, the guidance does not qualify a person to fix a mold issue. SERVPRO technicians must undergo extensive applied microbial remediation (AMRT) training before they are capable of assessing and remediating premises with mold.

What are the essential tips for dealing with mold growth?

  • Protecting yourself from mold spores is essential, including wearing the correct personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Cleaning up infestations involves avoiding contact with skin, eyes, or mouth. Goggles and respiration equipment are essential.
  • Using respirators requires expert knowledge of maintaining, cleaning, and removing a respirator in a potentially hazardous environment.

How does mold spread through a business?

A commercial mold inspection in your Coram business is designed to find the root cause of a microbial growth issue. Molds start as a microscopic spore. If these spores are disturbed, thousands of these spores can release. Spores can grow hyphae in the right conditions, which penetrate porous materials while enzymes begin to digest and break down organic matter. SERVPRO remediation inspections can often involve placing containment equipment as a precaution against spreading spores. Sometimes pulling out pieces of a structure can release spores, which is why we seal vents, provide negative air pressure, and physical barriers during inspections. The initial signs of microbial growth could be the tip of the iceberg, which is why it is common for inspectors to remove parts of drywall or fittings to assess the extent of microbial losses.

What are the right conditions for molds to grow?

  • Moisture is essential for microbial organisms to become active.
  • Temperatures between 68 and 86 degrees are ideal, although some molds can grow in colder environments.
  • Organic materials like woods, natural fibers, and particleboards are an ideal food supply for mold colonies.

Fixing a mold issue and preventing colonies from returning utilizes professional expertise and training. Contact SERVPRO of Patchogue at (631) 924-1801.

How Can I Get the Water Out of a Patchogue Conference Room Fast?

6/3/2020 (Permalink)

he certified techs are available 24/7 for any size water loss situation.

SERVPRO techs arrive quickly and can restore your Patchogue office from water loss

When a water loss event in Patchogue such a plumbing leak, break room appliance, or toilet overflow affects a common area where the employees meet, it needs fast action to ensure the closure time and losses are minimal.

What Should Be Done First After Commercial Water Damage in a Conference Room?

There are many actions a property owner can take against commercial water damage in a Patchogue to lessen the loss.
    •    Turn off the water to the property
    •    Remove small items off the floor such as storage boxes or equipment
    •    If water may come into contact with outlets, turn off the electricity

How Can SERVPRO Assist Business Owners With Reopening More Quickly?

Your regular janitorial crew does not have the same type of extraction and drying equipment that the certified technicians from SERVPRO have access to. The techs have portable pumps with powerful suction to pull the maximum amount of moisture out of flooring and any areas with water loss. The more water that gets removed lessens the drying time needed.

When it comes to drying, even industrial fans cannot match the output of professional air movers. These little dynamos produce a high-velocity airstream that causes embedded moisture to rise. The techs set up drying configurations unique to the property getting restored. Whenever possible, they put large furnishings such as conference tables up on blocks to enable them to dry in place and limit the disruptions to the business. This also allows for a faster reopening due to there not being a need to move out contents and move them back in.

Get your property cleaned up quickly after commercial water damage by contacting SERVPRO of Patchogue at (631) 924-1801. The certified techs are available 24/7 for any size water loss situation.

From sink fixture leaks to clean water overflows in the bathroom area of your café, addressing water loss incidents as quickly as possible is vital. Even with direct actions like water removal for Patchogue businesses like yours, several approaches can get the job done. In addition to the extraction needs that your café has, you also require containment to prevent the migration of water into other areas of the building. Our SERVPRO professionals can often perform limited emergency services immediately upon arrival so that full-scale mitigation and restoration does not have to begin until after you have closed for the night.

What Are the Threats of Pooling Water?

Pooling water in areas like the bathroom can lead to potential problems and hazards for those exposed. While you should limit any traffic into this area beyond restoration professionals, the severity of this situation might dictate how capable you are of staying open during the emergency. With varying degrees of threat, some of the potential problems with standing water include:

  • Slips and Falls
  • Absorption
  • Microbial Threats
  • Migration

What Are the Steps for Extracting Standing Water?

Extraction is a vital service that our professionals can perform as soon as we arrive at your damaged facility. Because many of your customers use areas like the bathroom in your building, addressing standing water should happen as soon as possible. There is a range of extractors. We choose between our available options correlates with the severity of the situation considerations like debris and solids in the water. Some of the extraction tools that our professionals use includes:

  • Submersible Pumps – Submerging pumps into several inches of standing water can be the most direct approach to removing hundreds or even thousands of gallons of clean water over a couple of hours.
  • Wet Vacuums – Wet vacuums are ideal for when water levels are below a couple of inches, yet still too high for only using drying efforts. The removal of surface water is a vital step for efficient drying.
  • Squeegee Wands – With tile flooring in the bathroom areas of your café, we can utilize squeegee wands for clearing off lingering water on the floor's surface. The more efficient and thorough this clearing can be, the less likely water gets underneath the tiling.
  • Carpet Wands – Migration of water in Patchogue businesses is a considerable threat with more substantial loss incidents, so saturation of carpet outside of the bathroom in your business can get damaged by spreading water. Carpet wands can help to pull trapped water from carpet fibers and padding with a powerful vacuum system.

Who Repairs Damaged Commercial Plumbing?

Not only is the removal of water and drying of your café restroom a top priority, but repairs must also occur before the room is ready for use again. While many restoration companies might encourage you to seek out subcontractors on your own to build back and repairs, our SERVPRO team features a full division of commercial contractors to help however you need it. We offer:

  • Qualified Professionals – In both reconstruction and restoration, we devote time and resources to improving the knowledge and the experience of our professionals; however we can.
  • Full-Scale Restoration – We offer far more than just plumbing repairs or light patching work. We have an experienced division of licensed contractors that can rebuild your business from the ground up if necessary or replace a damaged plumbing fixture quickly and correctly.
  • Seamless Transitions Between Mitigation and Reconstruction – Time is always the enemy of any restoration project, so having fast and efficient transitions between restoration and reconstruction phases limits the time and money involved in restoring the property entirely.

Can My Business Stay Open After a Water Loss?

Staying open after a disaster involves a careful assessment by our responding professionals. While there are containment strategies that can be effective in even severe water loss scenarios, the location of the damage, and how complicated it would be to work around this activity, are determining factors for this decision.

Water losses can be a threatening force for your business, especially when you do not know for sure if you can stay open while restoration begins. Our SERVPRO of Patchogue team can help with efficient water removal and drying to make losses "Like it never even happened." Give us a call today at (631) 924-1801.

Water Damage to Your Patchogue Business? SERVPRO Restores the Fitness for Your Customers!

Commercial Water Removal Patchogue – Chaotic Impact

Whenever water leaks are discovered in a Patchogue business, a chaotic environment usually follows. Employees may not know what to do, customers cannot enter the premises, and there may be an impact on the contents associated with your business. All of these forces can lead to lost revenue for several days or even weeks unless the situation is dealt with quickly. Or it may just be a minor inconvenience.

SERVPRO responds to commercial water removal situations in Patchogue and surrounding areas. We understand how important it is for a business to regain normal business operations quickly, within hours if possible. Every hour businesses are shut down means lost revenue, and more importantly, impacts your customers' plans and desires as well. Business to business sales impact your customer's operations, who often may have to shut down or lay their employees off temporarily.

Fast Response and Containment
SERVPRO understands how important it is for a business to recover from a water leak. We are available on a 24/7 basis and aim to respond in less than 4 hours. Based on the information provided, we respond with appropriate equipment and staff to immediately begin containment of the water leak.

Once the source of the water leak is identified and turned off, SERVPRO begins mopping up the water using hand-operated water extractors or in more extensive situations, weighted mobile water extractors. These machines remove all of the water from carpets and other flooring types. If possible and necessary, we may use a separate staging area to place dry items and those recovered from the water damaged area.

Next, we introduce air movers and dehumidifiers to remove moisture from the air and return humidity levels to normal levels. Often water penetrates spaces under heavy equipment or filing cabinets. These items are not easy to move. We utilized specialized hoses to blow dry air under these items to completely dry the area. We can "rig" different injecti-dry systems best suited to the task.

We aim to have you return to normal business operations as quickly as possible. Our business is to keep you in business.

This direct contact helps so that you remain in control through each step of the restoration process, and our team is kept apprised when it comes to any of your specific needs.

SERVPRO technicians understand that food processing equipment can be costly to replace when significant mold damage is present. Our team works to restore rather than replace to save you money on remediation costs. One way that we do this is by employing the use of dry ice blasting technology to cut through the mold growth on any equipment in your commercial space.

Dry Ice Blasting

The process of dry ice blasting is suitable for cleaning a range of textures and materials in one sweep. Dry ice blasting uses carbon dioxide in solid form meshed with a pressurized air stream at targeted surfaces to clean them thoroughly. This method not only works exceptionally well, but it also helps to reduce the exposure to potential hazards from chemical cleaning agents for both employees and your food production or preparation space.

Do you need help with commercial mold removal? Get in touch with our team of trained professionals today at SERVPRO of Patchogue by calling (631) 924-1801, and we can send technicians out as soon as possible.

Our Experts Discuss Mold Prevention and Treatment For Your Coram Property

Commercial Mold Damage in Coram: Prevention and Treatment

Commercial mold damage can bring a company to a grinding halt. Employees do not want to work around it, and customers may consider the business "unclean" if mold is visible on walls, ceilings, or other areas.

When commercial mold damage happens in Coram's business properties, it is almost always the result of another issue that requires addressing. Knowing the early signs of a mold infestation can save a business the cost of remediation, and it is worth it for property owners to learn the common areas and reasons for colony growth and spreading.

Schedule Regular Inspections
A monthly walk-through of the property is a large part of catching problems with the plumbing or leaks, which are frequent causes of mold. Repairing a slow leak early on can halt the progress of an infestation. Roof and gutters are also culprits, if your commercial property has attic storage - it should regularly undergo inspection to catch leaks. Properties with a basement should look for signs of elevated moisture or hydrostatic water issues, causing the cement to efflorescence or brickwork to flake. Another sign to look out for involves your nose and a musty odor that does not go away.

When Mold is Found or Suspected
Fighting back against a mold infestation is never a DIY project. SERVPRO technicians scope the property and use moisture detection equipment to find hidden pockets of moisture behind walls and other hard to see areas. When they find mold, they also routinely inspect and clean the ductwork after remediation efforts complete.

The Mold Remediation Process
Once SERVPRO techs discover mold, they contain the work area, including the vents, to inhibit any further spread of spores. Then they measure the interior humidity and lower them below sustainable levels to the mold existence. The dried colonies get removed by hand or in cases of extensive coverage that requires removal; they use methods such as soda blasting. They use HEPA-fitted vacuums to pick up the debris. Lastly, they use antimicrobial cleaning agents and sealants as needed to deter any return of the mold to the abated areas.

SERVPRO of Patchogue (631) 924-1801 abates commercial mold damage of any scale. Using their professional-grade equipment and expertise to remediate any size mold infestation and make it, “Like it never even happened.”

Some of the Biggest Problems When Dealing With Commercial Flood Damage in Coram

11/15/2019 (Permalink)

Flood damage can quickly deteriorate your floors and furniture. Contact SERVPRO immediately for water removal.

How Flood Damage Affects Furnishings In Your Coram Area Hotel

Regardless of the type of flooring installed on your Coram property, you should always get the furniture off of your floor as soon as possible after a flood. You might have the personnel to move all of your furniture out of the structure entirely. If not, you can use wood-blocks to elevate furniture in-place to help prevent staining or bleeding.

If possible, use waxed paper to prevent rust transfer from zippers and buttons on the cushions of any furniture affected by flood damage in your Coram area hotel. Tenting helps cushions dry evenly and quickens their drying time. Keep in mind that several problems can occur after flood-waters effect upholstery and wood items in your sitting area, guest rooms, or hallway.

Including:

  • Swelling – Where the framing of your furniture, made of wood, swells, and cracks, glues can break down, causing additional damage to furniture.
  • Water Spotting – Where fabrics that are, dry-clean only may spot, requiring special attention to avoid water lines.
  • Color Bleeding – Dust covers often bleed when wet, and if the cover sags due to exposure, it could stain carpets or flooring.
  • Mildew Growth – We primarily use drying methods, including air movers and dehumidifiers to lessen drying time and prevent mildew from growing.

SERVPRO technicians witness a variety of issues concerning both upholstered and wood furnishings often used in a hotel environment. Both spotting and swelling typically occur when wood or wood composition furniture such as chairs, tables, stools, or benches get exposed to water. We remove spotting using specialized wood care products and advanced drying methods to reduce swelling, while finishers can repair warping problems that occur in wooden frames.

At SERVPRO, we always discuss repair vs. replacement costs with the customer, since it may be less expensive to replace than repair in some cases. Furniture made of particleboard, covered by a laminate, reacts poorly to water. Laminates often resist water and act as a vapor barrier, trapping moisture on one side of the material, often leading to warping.

SERVPRO of Patchogue has an entire team with Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) standing by 24-hours a day, 7-days a week to supply you with emergency response personnel, advanced equipment, and valuable resources. Call today. (631) 924-1801

We Act Fast To Restore Your Selden Business

9/3/2019 (Permalink)

We provide 24-hour emergency service and are dedicated to responding faster to any size disaster.

Get Effective and Prompt Commercial Water Removal for Your Selden Outpatient Clinic

Outpatient medical clinics are unique because they provide for patients' needs without around the clock staff members, permanent beds, or the permits and licenses needed to host patients overnight. Instead, these facilities provide medical or surgical care to patients who return home on the same day. Unfortunately, water damage incidents can occur and disrupt their daily activities.

A main water supply line can break and flood most of your facility. In such a case, you need prompt commercial water removal for your Selden outpatient clinic. Timelines and thoroughness are crucial because the clinic needs to remain in operation, especially if surgical procedures are taking place.

When a water loss incident occurs in your outpatient medical facility, one of the severe consequences is destruction to costly medical equipment. Water leaks can also cause unsightly stains on drywall, interior surfaces, and ceilings. Another critical effect of water damage in a medical facility is its impact on affected patients. For instance, if it is necessary to shut down electricity because of a water intrusion incident, some medical procedures may not go on.

To prevent extensive damage, you can place a trash can below the leak to keep the surrounding area from getting wet. Also, cover all equipment, furniture, and documents that are at risk of water damage with plastic sheeting. Stabilizing the environment following a water loss mishap is a priority. You can call a water damage restoration firm like SERVPRO to assist the facilities management in adjusting conditions in the affected areas to meet the level of relative humidity and temperature ideal for recovery.

Our Water Removal Restoration Technicians (WRTs) can use wet/dry vacuums to remove standing water. Wet-vacuuming is effective in removing the water because of the amount of vacuum lift that a portable extractor provides. Wet-vacuuming is useful for extracting water on all flooring surfaces. Controlling humidity in a building is also as crucial as controlling the spread of water. One way to accomplish this is ventilating the building to reduce the buildup of extra humidity. Ventilating means opening windows and doors to allow the outside air, which has low moisture to come inside. We can also use air movers to encourage air circulation and portable dehumidifiers to speed up drying.

After the initial water recovery steps, Our SERVPRO crew can assess the number of floors affected, and the materials that water has ruined, such as furniture, equipment, and paper records. Our team can also inspect the drywall to determine if the water damage is severe. Soaked drywall may sag and crumble. We offer professional and controlled demolition of building components with an emphasis on appropriate retention and salvaging of non-affected areas. We can subcontract the necessary repairs to licensed contractors.

When there is water damage in your outpatient clinic, SERVPRO of Patchogue can help you remove the water and dry the affected areas. Contact us at (631) 201-4813 for fast restoration.

Freedom Fit 5k Run!

11/12/2018 (Permalink)

At SERVPRO of Patchogue, we like to sponsor a lot of events that take place right in our community.  This event was a 5k run hosted by the organization LIAT which we sponsored by providing water bottles and orange juice to all the race runners while also running in the race.

LIAT stands for Long Island Against Trafficking, and was founded when a group of individuals were awakened to the realities of human sex trafficking while attending a lecture. The words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter" resonated in their hearts and minds. They were compelled to join in the fight for those sex trafficked on Long Island and abroad. Long Island Against Trafficking was established to raise funds for those victimized and raise public awareness of this modern-day form of slavery. They accomplish this by speaking at public and private events as well as lobbying at the local, state, and federal levels. They plan and host fundraisers to aid in financially supporting the victims. They also partner with other human rights organizations to create a powerful collective voice. To date, LIAT has raised more than $750,000 towards the aid of trafficking victims.

This event was an overall great day for all who participated and SERVPRO of Patchogue proudly supports everything that the LIAT stand for and everything they do to make Long Island a better place to be.

Mid Construction Commercial Water Damage

11/1/2018 (Permalink)

We Must Be Prepared For Anything!

Wow! This one was a challenge and time was of the essence! This Veterans Rehab Facility extension was under construction and the contractor had deadlines that had him sweating to get it done on time as it was and then the sprinkler line was accidentally hit and water was EVERYWHERE!

We were called in immediately and not only had to remediate the water damage but work in very crowded and messy conditions as it was an ongoing construction site. The space was in a bit of disarray prior to the water damage, so we worked hand in hand with their foreman to work throughout this very expansive space as efficiently as possible.

Our efforts enabled the contractor to stay on schedule with our help and at the end all parties were grateful that we were on their team!

Managing Mold

11/1/2018 (Permalink)

From the Ordinary….

Fungi and mold naturally occur in our environment.  In fact, over 100,000 kinds of fungi have been identified.  Even though some forms of mold can add value to our lives, other forms can be harmful.  Excessive amounts of mold, different types of mold, and/or exposure to molds may present health concerns for some people.

To the Unhealthy….

Intrusion of water into your home or place of work can result in mold growth.  Water intrusions can result from storm damage, plumbing, or equipment failures, long-standing leaks, and poor humidity control.  When water intrusions are not addressed right away, the resulting damage can present increased risk of harmful mold growth.  If the humidity and moisture levels in a water-damaged environment are not promptly returned to normal, mold spores may grow and multiply.

Take Precautions

SERVPRO Franchise Professionals handle water damages every day and know prompt action is required to prevent mold growth.  If there is an ongoing moisture problem in the building, be alert for:

  • The presence of visible mold.
  • Strong musty odors, which may indicate mold is present.
  • Any evidence of past moisture problems that might have caused undetected mold growth.
  • Excessive humidity.
